sittin' in a NYC hotel room changing my blog layout

I love this picture, but don't know where I originally found it. It goes well with my tag line: Come on in, the color's fine!

Why am I in a hotel somewhere in Queens, NY? Because, early tomorrow morning we will go to JFK airport to pick up our son, who has been in South Africa for 8 weeks. While there he's been on a safari, bungeed off a bridge (possibly the world's highest commercial bungee), attended a world cup soccer game, and much much more, and somehow did it all and still found time for the 6 week college internship program he was in Africa to attend.

So tonight, in between checking periodically to see if his flights are on schedule, I've decided it's time to give my blog a new look. I've changed it so many times tonight I've lost all perspective. So it's time to quit and get some sleep. I don't know if I like it, but I doubt I'd be able to get it back in its original simple configuration anyhow. So don't be surprised if it changes again while I'm still on summer vacation... Please, let me know if you like it and if you are able to find what you are looking for. Be honest !

Just checked the airline. His 8 hour flight from Johannesburg to Dakar landed on time, and he is now back in the air again, for another 8 hours that will bring him here to NYC. Then it's a 4 to 5 hour drive home... But his girlfriend will be with us and it should all be good!

  1. You are so good at writing comments. Thanks! Well, Here is what I did for to get the double columns. I used Template Designer(design, Awesome Inc.) Then went to layout and choose the third in on the bottom. There is also a section that is called 'Adjust width' under Layout. This will allow you to change the width of you columns. Hope that helps. I am working on the background. I really am not in total love with what I have. Thanks for you honest comments! As for your background, I find it calming and pleasing to the eye. I think that it has a nice pattern to it but because of the gray, is not distracting. Very nice. I wish I could find that in a fabric.

  3. Mrs. Hahn, thanks for your comments. I actually did use 'adjust the width' but it seems to revert or change depending on whether I'm on my laptop or my desktop computer. As for the background, first I had a bright yellow with burgundy crackle lines throughout, and I loved it until I got home and opened it up on my desktop computer and saw it huge. It was too bright and overpowering so I changed it. So my grayish background is now one of the transparent patterns - I found that I could really fool around with the subtle color on those patterns. Have you tried that yet?

  4. Erica (http://artprojectgirl.blogspot.com/) just emailed me because she is having a hard time commenting on our sites. She had my email from before and let me know she was having the same problem with your site. I can comment on yours when I use firefox, but not on safari. Things are weird these days for blogger... or maybe it's because we messed with a good thing... darn!

  5. OK... now I see yellow. A nice yellow but it is hard to read some of the text on the side bar. If you change the color there you should be golden (no pun intended). I did get your 1st message (it was under the weaving post). I see what you are saying about bubble for the comments. I don't really like that either but it was in the template.

I googled blogger templates and came up with a ton of sites to visit. The one I go this off from was http://www.templateparx.com/?gclid=CJDdnrKanKMCFREhDQodlF5Bqg. It also give directions how to download it. I was impressed how easy it was. I don't think I'm even going to mess with it. I thought about maybe doing some editing to it but I like it (except the bubble comments, and I don't know how to get rid of them). So there you have it. If you ever want to email me you can write me at nicholechahn@yahoo.com. You can also call me Nic of Nichole... Mrs. Hahn seems to formal for friends.
