1st grade skeletons
My first graders used paper straws and Elmer's School Glue to make these cute skeletons, and then used construction paper crayons to embellish. We started with a "T" for the spine and shoulders and then added bones according to the pose. I like the way some have fingers, and wow, look at all those toes and ribs on the skeleton to the right above!! Holy moly!
OK, on the vertical image below, what do you think was intended by those red circles? Honestly I didn't even NOTICE them until I added the image just now. Oops!
I guess pecks:) Oh well! This happened to me the other day. I had not noticed something totally inappropriate then I asked the kids to do a gallery walk (walk silently around the tables and look at each others work) you can imagine when they got to said picture what happened! I used to have these paper straws and do the exact same thing with them! But I ran out! Where do you get them and are they expensive? Is there a place besides the SAX catalogue? They were a little expensive I thought. . . well everything costs a lot when you have little to nothing:)
ReplyDeleteI've had the straws for ages - a huge bin full of them - they are Craftstraws and probably came from Sax or similar. Pecs, huh? I was going to say boobies!
ReplyDeleteI was giving him the benefit of the doubt! I assume him;) you are too funny! Enjoy your Monday!
ReplyDeleteBoobies, for sure. Hey Phyl, I added a post in support of your eloquent statement on Blue Moon Palette but I don't know if she will show it or not. Oh well, I tried!
ReplyDeleteAs always thanks for sharing! How did you students decide on the posses for their skeletons? Did they model for each other, did you show examples, or was their imagination their inspiration?
ReplyDeleteI have also missed things in student art work. Thankfully nothing yet that the student and I weren't able to doctor. Recently student drew a sword with blood on it and I wasn't comfortable leaving it that way or displaying it. One of my schools is a Catholic school in an area were violent crimes are not uncommon. I discussed my concerns with my seventh grade student. He agreed and quickly drew some sliced strawberries around the sword and turned it into Fruit Ninga (a smart phone game with the objective to slice fruit). I thought this was very clever.
Funny and yes boobies : )... Very funny..at least they are adding detail-right :)
ReplyDeleteMizz D, we wiggled our bodies around a bit to see how and where we bend, and then we just dove in! Later in the year we'll go back to to doing body stuff, with the kid modeling for each other. But we kept it simple for now.
ReplyDeleteLove the concept of Fruit Ninja! Thanks for sharing.
Pat, your comment is there at Blue Moon; it was not deleted. Thanks for chiming in. I do think that though we should feel free to speak our minds on our blogs, that we should also be tactful about what we say about specific individuals. I'm not out to hurt anyone on my blog.
