My 4th graders always love using black and white charcoal pencils for the first time. They chose from a variety of values of black and gray papers, and made branching trees and added their own touches of personality with details of their choosing. This year, the kids especially loved learning to make vines that wrapped around their branches.

Can you come teach this lesson to my 4th graders, Phyl? Please? Pretty please? They are so stunning and moody and fantastical all at the same time. You and your students rock!

ReplyDeleteAs I was posting this, the snow is falling outside so that it is beginning to look just like the pictures! The kids are very proud of themselves.
Snow falling on Nov. 22??? Glad I am in the south!!!!!! ha ha They are lovely Phyl..I actually have vine charcoal I bought a couple years ago that I've not dared to use yet...but with lack of supply money at the moment..I might break them out for a lesson like this!!
