Art Teachers in Kayaks

My former colleague, the high school art teacher, joined me for a morning kayak through my favorite marsh. She took these really cool photos of my reflection:

And I took these less unique photos of her:

Also in the marsh:

I know, I know, you are all posting about getting your school year started, and here I am in the marsh yet again. But honestly, we were just a few miles from the school, and I wouldn't be surprised if she was in there working in the classroom after she left me, and I was actually in the school that afternoon too, meeting with my replacement who wanted to touch base.

    1. It is actually an unopened water lily. I have several other photos of it/them and had a hard time choosing which to post. The turtle has an insect 'hitchhiker' on his back. And did you see those imposing looking claws? I wouldn't want to mess with them!

  5. Ahhh... to be floating in the lake... instead I am sweating in an non-air conditioned classroom unpacking boxes! Well, on to a new year! Enjoy your lake! You deserve it after all the years you dedicated to your students! :)

  6. Phyl,

You look like you are easing into the greatest retirement possible! I hope you realize that you are an excellent photograper and your pics look like they belong in National Geographic! I have three days of school under my belt and I'm feeling pretty good about the potential for a great schoolyear. I'll start posting morewhen my kiddos start producing. Say hello to the turtlefor me! :)Pat

    1. Thanks, Pat. Some day I'll splurge on a digital SLR like my son has. In the meantime this former photography teacher and darkroom aficionado is stuck with an inexpensive simple digital camera, since I already splurged in my iPad.
