Excuse the mess...

Two weeks till our student art show...tick tick tick tick... anyhow, the room's a mess, we've got everything going on at once, but in the middle of it all we took the bucket of marker caps (from dead markers) and made this sign! Isn't it cool? What did I do before I owned a hot glue gun? Everything took SO much longer then!

Meanwhile, my 4th graders are having an absolute BLAST making quickie ice cream cones. We are calling the drying cabinet "the freezer". (When the 1st graders painted gingerbread cookies this winter, we called the drying rack "the oven".) Both these cabinets have doors, so it's fun to say "don't leave the oven (or freezer) door open; we don't want to let the heat (or cold) out!"

Anyhow, we've just begun painting the cones, and the kids love that I told them to put the paint on thick and let it drip, the opposite of my usual painting instructions. I have some brown wire to add for cherry stems, too. Hopefully they'll all be done in time for the show! I'm working on a way to display them all.

On the left is Olivia's cone, in the middle you'll see cones in the freezer in need of painting, and on the right are my samples, which are making me hungry. Maybe I should have painted them strawberry, which I don't like, so I wouldn't feel the urge to head out in search of Ben and Jerry's!
