Relic of days gone by....

A deserted Tardis, perhaps? Is Dr. Who somewhere nearby, perhaps having an ice cream at the Ice Cream Parlor in Chestertown?

I know this has nothing to do with art education, but I wanted to share these photos I took, of a phone booth that I actually used to have occasion to use. The phone inside has a dial - kids today have never even used a dial phone! And the phone book hanging inside is about a dozen years old. Perhaps the phone company will come some day to remove it, but in the meantime, I'm tempted to pop in a quarter and see if it will work (though my hubby insists it is no longer wired up). Anyhow, the mosquitoes attacked me so I'll have to check again some other time :-)

  5. Christie, great idea - maybe this summer...

Barb, if you look at the last photo, you will see a road nearby. The gravel area (with the street # sign) actually leads off the main road and up a little road to a building on top of a little hill. The building used to be a lovely and elegant restaurant (actually my school used to hold retirement and holiday dinners there). The restaurant sadly closed down several years ago and has remained empty, and the weeds and growth have become heavy. But I understand that the building was recently purchased by a former student who I think will both live there and run the family contracting business out of the location. A bit past the restaurant after going down the slope on the other side of the hill is my Loon Lake. The dirt road leading to our "camp" as we call it (really more of a summer cottage to the rest of you" is maybe a 1/2 mile down the road from the phone booth. SO I pass it all the time. Driving down the road we are also likely to come across deer, wild turkeys, and even an occasional fox.

  7. A print of my photo for a giveaway? Really? Interesting thought.

Actually I plan to take more photos there when there aren't so many **** mosquitoes! Plus I want to try different times of day for different sunlight angles.
