more newly complete masks!

Oh Sarah, you never cease to amaze me! That's Sarah's mask on the left. (This is the same Sarah that built the female boxer sculpture - one of 4 Sarah's in grade 6.)

On the right is Melissa's mask, with really cool texture. Here's a close up:

  2. I LOVE these!
I'm totally stealing this for my 5th grade next year. Great project, and wonderful execution.

  3. The materials are 36 gauge aluminum tooling foil, some felt for padding when tooling the foil, basic tools including pop sticks, India ink, and acrylics and/or permanent markers. And then beads, yarn, & wire for embellishment. For more details about my expectation, check this post: http://plbrown.blogspot.com/2011/05/african-inspired-tooling-foil-relief.html

I do have lots of images from African masks from various parts of the continent, and the kids used them for design motivation as desired.

Cristy, go ahead and steal the lesson!
